Because He Loved Us First: Seeing Ourselves Through His Eyes

Seeing Ourselves Through His Eyes: Embracing Our True Identity in God's Love 🌿✨ | Discover how God's love redefines who we are and how we see ourselves. Read now on Echoes of Honey! #GodsLove #Faith #IdentityInChrist #EchoesOfHoney"

Have you ever looked into a mirror and struggled to recognize the person staring back at you? Maybe life’s challenges, past mistakes, or the voices of others have distorted how you see yourself. But what if we stopped defining ourselves by the world’s standards and instead looked into the truest mirror—the Word of God?

God’s love is not just something we receive; it’s something that changes how we see. It shifts our perspective from who we think we are to who He says we are.

The Word as Our True Mirror

Mirrors reflect what’s in front of them, but not all mirrors tell the truth. The world’s mirror can be warped—distorted by insecurity, comparison, and lies. But God’s Word is a perfect mirror. It shows us our true reflection, the one He intended from the beginning.

📖 “But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” – James 1:25 (NIV)

When we look into the Word, we don’t just see ourselves—we see who we are in Christ.

Breaking Free from False Labels

The world tells us we are not enough. Not successful enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough. But God’s love rewrites our identity.

📖 “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” – Isaiah 43:1 (NIV)

You are not defined by your past, your struggles, or what others say about you. You are defined by the One who calls you His own.

📖 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

When we see ourselves through God’s eyes, we stop living under the weight of false labels and start walking in freedom.

Living Confidently in His Love

Once we know who we are in Christ, it changes how we live. No more striving for approval, no more fear of rejection—we stand firm, secure in the love that never fails.

📖 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:37-39 (NIV)

You are more than a conqueror. You are deeply loved. You are God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).

Loving Others as We See Ourselves Rightly

When we fully embrace God’s love, it transforms how we treat others. Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). But how can we love others well if we don’t first see ourselves as loved?

📖 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” – 1 John 3:1 (NIV)

Knowing we are loved allows us to love freely—without fear, without walls, without conditions.

A Song to Reflect On

As you reflect on seeing yourself through God’s eyes, I recommend listening to “Who You Say I Am” by Hillsong Worship. Let the lyrics remind you of your true identity in Christ.

A Prayer to Close

Father, thank You for loving me first. Help me to see myself through Your eyes—not through the world’s standards, but through the truth of Your Word. Let Your love shape my identity, fill my heart, and overflow into the way I love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Love for God: The Foundation of Our Lives

"🌅 Love for God: Embracing Gratitude and Trust in His Divine Love | Matthew 22:37-39 🙏✨"

What does it mean to truly love God? For many of us, it’s more than just words; it’s a lifestyle, a commitment, and the foundation of our faith. But in the busyness of life, it’s easy to lose sight of this love and its transformative power. In this post, we’ll explore what loving God looks like in our daily lives and how it can bring us closer to Him and to the people around us.

The Story: Growing up, I often heard the phrase, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.” It’s a powerful commandment, but living it out was something I struggled to understand. One day, during a particularly challenging season, I came across Matthew 22:37-39 where Jesus says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

This scripture changed everything for me. I realized that loving God isn’t about perfection; it’s about seeking Him in everything I do—from the way I pray to how I treat others. A song that beautifully captures this trust and rest in God’s love is “Lean Back” by Amanda Cook. The lyrics, “You will never leave, Your love sustaining me,” remind us of the security and peace found in His presence. Similarly, “Look What You’ve Done Already” by Greatman Takit opens with the question, “What would I do without your love?”—a reminder to reflect on God’s goodness and faithful presence in our lives.

Practical Tips:

Start with Gratitude: Take a moment each day to thank God for His blessings. Gratitude opens the door to a deeper connection with Him.

Spend Time in His Word: Reading scripture daily is one of the most profound ways to grow in your love for God.

Live Out Your Love: Show your love for God by serving others, being kind, and sharing His light.

Rest in His Love: Like the song “Lean Back” suggests, lean into God’s sustaining love. Trust Him with your worries and find peace in His presence.

Reflection Questions:

How do you express your love for God in your daily life?

Are there areas where you feel you could grow in your relationship with Him?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences! Let’s encourage one another to grow deeper in our love for God.
